Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 September 2026

ClipClap ("we", "us") turns long videos into short clips with subtitles. This policy explains what we collect when you use the website at clipclap.io and the Telegram bot @clipclapio_bot, why we collect it, who processes it and how you can have it deleted. Questions go to hello@clipclap.io.

What we collect

  • Account data. Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. If you sign up with email and password, the password is stored only as a bcrypt hash. If you use the Telegram bot, your Telegram user ID and app language.
  • Your videos and what we make from them. The files you upload or the links you submit, the audio track and its transcript, and the clips, titles and thumbnails we generate.
  • Billing data. Your plan, subscription status and payment identifiers. Card details are entered on the payment provider's page and never reach our servers.
  • Messages you send us. Support messages and feedback you leave on clips.
  • Referral payouts. If you join the referral program and request a payout, the payout method and destination you give us.
  • Visit statistics. For each page view we store the page, the referring site, an approximate country and a one-way hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day. We do not store your IP address, and the hash cannot link your visits across days.

Google sign-in

When you sign in with Google we receive only your name, email address and profile picture (the openid, email and profile scopes). We use them to create and identify your ClipClap account and to email you about it. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, YouTube or any other Google data, we do not sell Google user data, and we do not use it for advertising.

ClipClap's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How we use it

  • To process your videos into clips and deliver them to you.
  • To run your account, apply plan limits and take payments.
  • To send account emails (verification, password reset, support replies).
  • To answer support requests and improve clip quality from your feedback.
  • To count visits and signups in aggregate, so we know which pages work.

We do not sell personal data, show ads, or use your videos to train AI models.

Who processes it

We share data only with the services needed to run ClipClap:

  • OpenAI - receives the audio of your video for transcription and the transcript to pick the best moments. Under OpenAI's API terms this data is not used to train their models.
  • Cloudflare (R2) - stores source videos and finished clips.
  • Stripe - processes payments on the website and receives your email address.
  • Tribute - processes payments in the Telegram bot.
  • Telegram - delivers clips and messages when you use the bot.
  • Resend - sends account emails.
  • Google - sign-in, if you choose it.

Our servers are located in the European Union. Some of the services above process data in other countries, including the United States.

Cookies

We set two cookies: a sign-in session cookie, which keeps you logged in, and cc_ref, which remembers a referral link you arrived from for 30 days. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Source videos are deleted from storage within 7 days of processing, and extra working copies within 24 hours.
  • Clips are deleted when they expire: 7 days on Starter, 30 days on Plus and 90 days on Max.
  • You can delete a project and its clips yourself at any time from the dashboard.
  • Account, billing and support records are kept while your account exists, and billing records as long as tax law requires.

Your rights and account deletion

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything linked to it. Email hello@clipclap.io from the address on your account, or write to support in the Telegram bot. We handle requests within 30 days. You can also revoke ClipClap's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

ClipClap is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will notify you by email or in the bot.
